Privacy policy

1. Tasks and iCloud sync

The app stores the information you enter, including task titles, notes, due dates, time blocks, recurrence and reminder settings, completion history, projects, tags, subtasks, flags, and any location names, places, web links, or phone details you type or pick, and the names and phone numbers of people you add to a task. It uses this information to organize, find, schedule, and display your tasks.

Task data is stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework. When iCloud is available, it syncs using Apple's CloudKit service in a private database associated with your Apple Account. The app can also operate with a local-only store. The Mac app stores and syncs the same data, as described in section 4. We do not operate a separate server that receives your task database.

Places: when you type in a task's location field, the iPhone and iPad app sends what you type to Apple Maps, through Apple's MapKit, to get place suggestions. Apple handles those requests under its privacy policy, and T2Do does not receive them. A place you pick is saved with the task, including its name, address, and coordinates, and syncs with the task. A web link you add to a location is saved as text and opens only when you tap it.

People: you add people with Apple's system contact picker. T2Do receives only the people you pick and saves their names and phone numbers with the task, in your iCloud. Phone numbers you type are also saved as text.

The app does not request your device's GPS location and has no access to your full address book. We do not receive your Apple Account password.

2. Optional device-calendar access

If you connect calendars, the app asks for Full Access to calendar events through Apple's EventKit framework. iOS and macOS require that permission to read events. T2Do displays events beside your tasks and does not edit or delete them itself. On iPhone and iPad, tapping an event opens Apple's event screen, where an event changes only if you choose to edit or delete it there. On Mac, event details are read-only and editing happens in the Calendar app. The Mac app can add a new event to a calendar you choose when you use its New Event sheet or an AI tool you have allowed (see section 4).

The app reads calendar names, sources, colors, and identifiers so you can select calendars. For the calendars you select, it uses event titles, start and end times, all-day status, calendar names, colors, and identifiers to display events beside your tasks. No calendars are selected automatically.

This works with calendars already synced to Apple Calendar, including supported iCloud, Google, and Outlook accounts. T2Do does not sign in directly to Google or Microsoft or receive their passwords. Your operating system and calendar provider manage that account's syncing under their own terms.

Displayed event information is held in app memory, not copied into T2Do's task database or uploaded by T2Do to a developer server. Your connection preference and selected calendar identifiers are saved on your device. Disconnecting clears the displayed events but retains your calendar selection for reconnecting.

You can change the selection or disconnect in T2Do Settings. To withdraw system permission, change T2Do's Calendar access in iOS Settings, or in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Calendars on a Mac, where it may be listed as T2Do Sync. Your existing calendar events are unaffected, and task features remain available without calendar access.

3. Reminders, widgets, Shortcuts, and smart capture

Reminders: with notification permission, T2Do schedules local notifications on your device. They can show task titles and reminder text. Control notification permission and Lock Screen previews in iOS Settings. On Mac, a small helper app bundled with T2Do (T2Do Notifier) schedules the reminders with macOS; control them in System Settings > Notifications, where the helper appears as T2Do.

Widgets (iPhone and iPad): the app saves a local task snapshot in a shared app container for its widget extension. This can include task titles, dates, time blocks, project names and colors, flags, and identifiers. Widgets may make this information visible to anyone who can view your screen.

Siri and Shortcuts (iPhone and iPad): the app supports task capture through Apple's App Intents. Information you provide through those features becomes task data. Quick capture can also donate the task action, including its title, to Apple's system for suggestions. Apple's privacy settings govern Siri and related system processing.

Smart capture (iPhone and iPad): on devices that support Apple Intelligence, T2Do can turn a sentence you type into a task using Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework. The processing happens on your device; the text is not sent to T2Do or to a third-party AI service.

Apple provides iCloud, calendar access, notifications, widgets, Siri, and Shortcuts. See Apple's privacy policy for its handling of information. These system features are not advertising integrations.

4. The Mac app

T2Do for Mac is a separate download, distributed outside the Mac App Store as a signed, Apple-notarized app from a release page on GitHub. It includes two small helper apps: one syncs your data with iCloud and reads your calendars, and the other schedules reminders.

Tasks and sync: your tasks are stored on your Mac and sync through the same private CloudKit database as the iPhone and iPad app, so the same Apple Account shows the same tasks. We do not receive them. The app keeps its settings, such as appearance, column widths, and your AI tools choices, and its logs in ~/Library/Application Support/T2Do and ~/Library/Logs/T2Do.

Downloads and update checks: the Mac app's release files are published on GitHub (github.com/kadeemj/t2do-macos), and this website's Mac download links there. The installed app checks that page when it opens and about every four hours, and downloads a new version in the background when one is available. GitHub processes these requests, including your IP address, the files requested, the app's version, and the time; see GitHub's privacy statement. T2Do does not add your tasks, calendar events, or an account identifier to that request. Update errors are written to a log on your Mac (in Library/Logs/T2Do), not sent to us.

Open at login: an optional setting, off by default. When on, T2Do starts in the menu bar when you log in so reminders keep arriving.

AI tools: an optional setting, off by default. When you turn it on, an AI app that you set up yourself, such as Claude, Codex, or another compatible tool, can connect to T2Do on your Mac through a local connection that only your macOS user account can open. That app can read your tasks, projects, tags, and events from the calendars you selected. Unless you choose Read only, it can also create, change, complete, and delete tasks and add calendar events. T2Do shows recent activity in Settings. Whatever an AI app reads may be sent on to its provider and is handled under that provider's terms and privacy policy, not this one. T2Do itself sends nothing to an AI service. Turn the setting off at any time to close the connection.

The Mac app has no advertising, tracking, analytics, or crash-reporting tools.

5. Support and diagnostics

If you email us, we receive your email address, your message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use that information to respond, investigate problems, and handle privacy requests. Our support email is delivered and stored using Google Workspace. See Google's privacy policy. Please avoid sending private task or calendar details unless needed to explain a problem.

The app does not include third-party advertising, tracking, analytics, or AI-service SDKs. T2Do does not send task or calendar content to an AI service. The one related option is Mac AI tools, which you control (section 4).

Apple may separately provide app diagnostics according to your device settings. During TestFlight testing, Apple automatically collects and shares beta usage and crash information with us. Feedback you submit, including screenshots, is also shared; your name and email may be included depending on how you joined the beta. We use beta information to diagnose problems and improve T2Do, not for advertising, and do not share TestFlight information with third parties. See TestFlight & Privacy.

6. Website visits

The website serves informational pages and does not ask you to create an account or submit task data. We do not use website analytics, advertising cookies, or visitor-tracking tools.

The website is hosted by Netlify. When you visit, Netlify processes connection information needed to serve and secure the site, such as your IP address, requested URL, browser information, and request time, and may retain access or security logs. See Netlify's privacy policy. This is separate from the task and calendar data stored by the app.

The Download for Mac button links to a file on GitHub. When you download it, GitHub processes your request under its own privacy statement. Following an external link or sending an email takes you to another service whose own privacy practices apply.

7. Retention, deletion, and your controls

• Tasks: data remains in the app's data storage until you delete it. Delete tasks in the app; Settings also offers “Clear completed tasks.” Manage projects and tags in their Settings screens. When iCloud sync is active, deletions sync to other connected devices as syncing completes.
• Device and iCloud copies: removing the app does not necessarily remove iCloud data or existing backups. On Mac, deleting the app also leaves the folders named in section 4; delete them to remove local settings and logs. Use Apple's iCloud storage and backup controls to manage iCloud copies. Disabling sync is not the same as deleting data.
• Calendars: disconnect to stop displaying events, or revoke Calendar permission in iOS Settings or macOS System Settings. Saved calendar identifiers remain local preferences; you can deselect calendars in the app. T2Do does not delete the source events.
• AI tools (Mac): turn the setting off to close the connection. T2Do keeps only a short list of recent activity to show in Settings. Information an AI app has already received is governed by that app's provider.
• System features: remove widgets or change notification and Siri settings to control where task information appears. Apple manages system history and backups under its own controls.
• Support correspondence: we retain support emails and attachments for 24 months after the last message in the conversation, then delete them unless longer retention is necessary for a legal obligation or legal claim.
• Beta feedback: copies of TestFlight feedback under our control are retained for 12 months after receipt or until the related issue is closed, whichever is later, then deleted unless longer retention is necessary for a legal obligation or legal claim. Apple separately manages retention in its own services; we cannot erase records it independently controls.
• Deletion requests: you can request earlier deletion of support correspondence or beta feedback using the contact below, subject to applicable legal exceptions. Provider-managed backups and logs follow the provider's retention and deletion processes.

There is no separate T2Do account to delete. We do not have a developer-hosted copy of your private task database to retrieve or erase for you.

8. Sharing and security

We do not sell your personal information or use task and calendar content for targeted advertising. Information is used for the features and support described above, not to build advertising profiles.

T2Do does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), and does not request App Tracking Transparency permission because it does not track.

The iPhone and iPad app relies on Apple's app sandbox, device protections, and iCloud services. The Mac app is signed with our Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, and, like most apps downloaded from the web, runs outside the Mac App Sandbox. It relies on macOS permission prompts and iCloud. Protect your device and Apple Account, and choose notification and widget settings appropriate for the information you store. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Information you provide to support may need to be disclosed where legally required. Service providers may process information in countries other than your own under their applicable privacy terms.

9. Privacy questions and requests

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information, or object to or restrict certain processing. Contact kadeem.jeffery@mail.lavalabs.ai to ask about information we hold, including support correspondence or beta feedback. We may need to verify your request. You may also contact your local data-protection authority where applicable.

For information controlled by Apple or your calendar provider, use that provider's privacy tools. Please do not send passwords or a complete task database with a request.

10. Children's privacy

T2Do is intended for a general audience in the United States and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, contact kadeem.jeffery@mail.lavalabs.ai so we can delete information under our control.

We will update this page and its revision date when our practices change. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request permission before a new use of personal information.
